How to backflush an espresso machine
Weekly with detergent, daily with water. Five minutes that add years to a group head.

Backflushing only applies to machines with a three-way solenoid valve. If your machine drips after a shot rather than releasing pressure into the drip tray, skip this.
Fit the blind basket, add one tablet or a half teaspoon of powder, lock in, run the pump for ten seconds, stop for ten. Repeat five times, then rinse the same way with an empty blind basket.
